The Student Family Support Advocate is responsible for the overall development and administration of the special needs program. SFSA coordinates and provides special needs services, assists families of children with special needs on their individual education plan and referrals, special needs counseling and other service plans for students with special needs residing within the boundaries of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony.
Services might include:
- Develop and to coordinate the special needs services with Education Department programs
- Identify students with special needs on the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony
- Work with families of children with special needs for referrals and follow-up within the school district and other educational institutions
- Track children with special needs by maintaining and updating the list of identified students with special needs
- Work with special needs children using their individualized educational plan identified by the school district
- Advocate with families on their child with children
- Provides trainings and resources to families
- After School Program tutoring assistance
