Public Law 102-477, the Indian Employment, Training and Related Services Demonstration Act of 1992 was amended to authorize Indian tribal of 1992 was amended to authorize Indian tribal governments to integrate the employment, training and related services. The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony 477 Program was established in 2001 to strengthen and improve the delivery of education, training and employment services.
The following programs have been integrated into the RSIC 477 Program:
- Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
- Child Care Development Fund (CCDF)
- Higher Education (HE)
- Job Training and Placement (JPT)
- Johnson O’Malley (JOM)
- Welfare Assistance
The goal and objective of the 477 program is to provide opportunities for tribal members and RSIC residents to reach self-sufficiency through employment, training and education. Eligibility for the 477 program requires that applicants be RSIC enrolled members or be an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe and reside on RSIC lands. Additional eligibility requirements will be required depending on program requests.
