Tribal Governance

The Colony is a sovereign tribal government with an elected Chairman and eight-member Tribal Council which serves as the governing body per the Constitution. The Constitution gives Tribal Council the authority and responsibility to raise revenues, incur expenses, enter into contracts, borrow money, administer funds, purchase land, and provide services for the general welfare and benefit of the Colony members. Traditional native governmental structures are not incorporated into the concepts of the importance of relationships and tribal bonds that focus economic development efforts toward improving the quality of life for the benefit of all the members- and those members yet to be born.
